Wood – the natural choice

With its natural warmth and beauty, wood is one of the oldest materials used for construction by man. But it also offers a host of other benefits that are increasingly making it the construction material of choice.

Though light, wood has high tensile and compressive strength. It’s easy to work, good value for money, provides excellent insulation and used properly is very resistant to the weather.

Wood is also very versatile, giving an artistic scope not available with other materials. Designers and architects love working with wood because the possibilities are almost endless.

But it is perhaps wood’s environmental benefits that really set it apart. Reusable, recyclable and biodegradable, wood is the only mainstream building material that is renewable. All the trees grown to produce wood absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and give off oxygen. And when you build with wood it continues to help the environment, storing CO2 for the whole lifespan of the construction.

Wood’s unique benefits and properties undoubtedly make it the construction material of the future.

Sustainable Forestry

“A tree is beautiful, but what’s more, it has a right to life; like water, the sun and the stars, it is essential. Life on earth is inconceivable without trees. Forests create climate, climate influences peoples’ character, and so on and so forth. There can be neither civilization nor happiness if forests crash down under the axe, if the climate is harsh and severe, if people are also harsh and severe. … What a terrible future!”
